Abstract
Vibrio cholerae non 01 strains are organisms that are biochemically indistinguishable from V. cholerae but do not agglutinate in vibrio 0 group 1 antiserum. V. cholerae non 01 has a wide spectrum of disease than dose V. cholerae 01, has been rarely isolated from patients with septicemia who had cirrhosis or other underlying diasese, and causes a fetal course of disease The authors isolated V. cholerae non 01 strain with stapylococcus aureus from blood of a 40 year old male who has suffered from liver cirrhosis since 2 years age. His illness stared with a sudden diarrhea, abdominal pain, and high fever developed a day after heavily drinking alcohol with some food. In spite of intesive care of oxygen inhalation, fluid therapy, and tobramycin administration, he was discharged in grave condition, and expired at home 2days after his symtoms developed. Microbiogy laboratories in our country where raw fish and shelfish are frequently eaten should consider the possibility of V. cholerae non 01.
